JESUS CHRIST IS GOD
Why Jesus Christ is God: The Eternal Truth
In every generation, the question “Who is Jesus Christ?” has echoed across nations, cultures, and hearts. For believers, the answer is foundational: Jesus Christ is God. Not just a prophet, teacher, or miracle worker—but the eternal Son of God, co-equal with the Father, and the visible image of the invisible God (Colossians 1:15).
1. He Claimed Divinity
Jesus did not leave us guessing about His identity. In John 10:30, He declared, “I and the Father are one.” The religious leaders of His time understood exactly what He meant and sought to stone Him for blasphemy, “because You, being a Man, make Yourself God” (John 10:33). Jesus didn’t correct them—because He was telling the truth.
2. He Forgave Sins
Only God can forgive sins, yet Jesus often did. In Mark 2:5-7, Jesus forgives a paralytic man, prompting outrage from the Pharisees who exclaimed, “Who can forgive sins but God alone?” Indeed—unless Jesus is God, this act would be blasphemy. But instead, He confirmed His authority by healing the man, proving both His power and identity.
3. He Accepted Worship
From the wise men at His birth (Matthew 2:11) to Thomas after the resurrection (“My Lord and my God!” – John 20:28), Jesus was worshiped—and He never refused it. Angels and righteous men in the Bible always rejected worship (Revelation 22:8-9), but Jesus received it, because He is worthy.
4. He Is Called God
Scripture is clear. John 1:1 boldly declares, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” By verse 14, it becomes undeniable: “The Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” Jesus is the incarnate Word—God made flesh.
In Titus 2:13, Paul writes of “our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ,” affirming that Christ is not a lesser being but fully divine.
5. His Resurrection Proves It
The resurrection is the ultimate declaration of Jesus’ deity. Romans 1:4 says He was “declared to be the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead.” Death could not hold Him, for He is the author of life (Acts 3:15).
Conclusion: The God Who Came Near
Jesus Christ is not merely a representative of God—He is God. He walked among us, spoke as God, acted as God, and rose again as God. To deny His deity is to reject the heart of the Gospel.
Believing in Jesus as God is not just theology—it is life-changing truth. He is Emmanuel, “God with us” (Matthew 1:23), and in Him, we find salvation, grace, and eternal life.
